The Atlanta Botanical Garden was first proposed by Civic-minded Atlantans back in 1973. Their idea was to have a botanical garden inside the city of Atlanta.

Today the garden works with private landowners, government agencies, and other nonprofit conservation groups to restore and manage threatened plant communities in Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.

This tree, the Tulip Poplar, usually flowers with pale green or yellow flowers in April, but high up in the tree.
