A native of suburban Philadelphia, Norman Mackenzie made his debut as a pianist with the Philadelphia Orchestra at age twelve, and as an organist at age twenty. Today Mackenzie is the Director of Choruses for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, he was chosen to help carry forward the work of founding conductor Robert Shaw. He also serves as Director of Music and Fine Arts for Atlanta's Trinity Presbyterian Church. The New York Times calls Mackenzie, Robert Shaw's 'designated successor.'
