Each weekday at noon City Cafe host John Lemley serves up “a plateful of classics and a variety of sides.” The program mostly includes classical music, but also features NPR and BBC news breaks as well as stories on culture, arts and other interesting events happening in and around Atlanta.

Tomorrow through Saturday, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will perform, among other works, Igor Stravinsky’s ballet score, “The Rite of Spring”. The ASO’s performance reminds us that the 1913 debut of this work didn’t exactly go according to plan. Here, Robert Krulwich and Jonah Lehrer tell the story of the premiere performance of “The Rite of Spring” and its uproarious effect on the audience. From StoryCorps Atlanta, a conversation between a foster father and a foster son. 18-year-old Adrian Hawkins was placed in Horace Atwater’s care four years ago, making him one of eight kids that the father has fostered. Still, Horace wasn’t so sure about Adrian in the beginning.
