Ice Cream Social!

July is National Ice Cream Month, a time when we take a moment, and a spoon, to honor that creamy frozen treat. We now bring you a taste.

New Musical Explores the Life of King, an Era in History

Listen here.

The life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is being brought to the Alliance Theatre in I Dream, a new opera by playwright Douglas Tappin. The UK-born writer previously brought the Biblical story of Moses and the Israelites to the stage in the musical Deliverer. He began work on Dr. King’s story in 2006 after moving to Atlanta.

WABE’s Lois Reitzes spoke with Tappin for a look at how this piece of Civil Rights history is being told in song. City Cafe producers also made it to a rehearsal to speak with the show’s leads.
