Of all the Christmas-themed shows going on at Atlanta’s theaters this month, there’s only one featuring both Jesus and Satan and scored by a live rock band playing Twisted Sister. For that, there’s 7 Stages’ production of A Krampus Christmas, an original production by the theater and their neighbors, Java Lords coffee house. WABE’s Myke Johns caught them in rehearsals to find out what happens to the kids on Santa’s “naughty” list.

A Charlie Brown Christmas premiered on December 9th, 1965.The soundtrack to that special - composed by jazz musician, Vince Guaraldi - remains one of the most popular holiday albums to this day. This weekend, you’ll have a couple chances to hear it live, in the unlikely setting of the small East Atlanta Village rock club, the EARL. WABE’s Myke Johns paid the musicians a visit before last year’s show, and we’re revisiting that conversation now.

A video from 2008’s show is available on YouTube.

For generations, Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker has been a holiday favorite. This Thursday at the Fox Theater, however, the Atlanta Ballet will perform a parody of the classic. The Nutty Nutcracker is labor of love whose choreography, design and planning are all arranged entirely by the dancers themselves. And, as WABE’s David Barasoain reports, “Nutty,” as it’s known, is also performed for a good reason.
