Based on a historical timeline of the neighborhood, Gates is a non-invasive linear installation in the stream running through Perkerson Park. The fence-like structures serve as a map, pointing to sustainable navigation as well as to the larger social actions of daily life. Seeking to engage the community in the creation of social sustainability as an ongoing process in the creation of the sculptural filtration systems, this piece works in tandem with an already established neighborhood commitment to the park and stream. The community actively participated in the creation of Gates via workshops as well as larger social gatherings led by the Perkerson Park community group. For more information click here.
